本系列教材为广东地方版教材，属高职高专公共英语系列。该套教材同时也是广东省高职高专英语改革项目的一个重要组成部分，在内容上全面更新，体现出了新内容，新体系，新观念的时代需要。该套教材加强了对应用文等实用文体阅读能力的培养，将英语应用能力的训练具体体现于英语能力的培养之中，真正做到了“教、学、考”相互照应。 教材的编写特色如下： 1.严格按照《基本要求》编写。 2.加大听说技能、特别是实用交际能力的训练，把培养一定的实用口语交际能力作为本教程的重要任 务。 3.加强对应用文等实用文体阅读能力的培养，满足将在一线工作的学生实际的涉外交际需要。 4.认真贯彻“学一点、会一点、用一点”，“听说读写译并重”和“边学边用、学用结合”的原则。 5.具有广东地方特色。
